Bio

Zoraida Heredia de la Cruz (Coach Soly) is from the Dominican Republic. Coach Soly’s volleyball career started in the Dominican Republic where she began playing as part of the FIVB international team. Coach Soly experienced competitive competition playing against top international teams around the world such as, The United States, Thailand, Peru, Mexico, China, Japan, Italy, Brazil, Cuba, and many more teams.

Coach Soly moved to the USA in 2009 to play and study at Iowa Western Community College & MidAmerica Nazarene University where she received All-American honors at both levels.

Coach Soly began her coaching career as the graduate assistant coach at Texas A&M University-Commerce and also was part of the coaching staff as an assistant after graduating. While coaching at A&M-Commerce the program won the conference championship and competed in the NCAA playoff tournament. Coach Soly worked diligently with the coaching staff and compliance office to gain a wealth of knowledge when it comes to properly managing a collegiate volleyball team. Coach soly recruited, formulated practices, ran drills, created drills, as well as implemented game plans for successful wins throughout her time there.

Coach Soly has recruited some great talent in the U.S. as well as international players. Coach Soly is fluent in Spanish, English, and Portuguese and that has afforded her an opportunity to relate to parents and players whose first language may not be English.

Coach Soly is passionate, competitive, caring, intense, and loving when teaching athletes about the game of volleyball. Coach Soly believes that developing fundamentals and maintaining proper technique and mechanics is essential to growth at all levels and ages in the game of volleyball.

Coach Soly coached 11s, 12s, 15s, 16s & 18s club teams and has helped players improve on all skills and aspects of the volleyball game. Coach Soly encourages players to always be students of the game.
