Shea has been a pivotal member in the growth of Excel Volleyball Club over the past decade. He has coached multiple teams over the past 13 seasons at Excel and success has followed Shea across many levels and age groups. Shea has qualified over a dozen teams with bids across all divisions. Most recently in 2023, Shea’s 18 National Red qualified in Open, repeating the success his 18s team had the prior year. In 2016, Shea led our 15 Red team to double qualify Open, medaling at both the Lone Star Qualifier as well as the Northern Lights Qualifier. In addition, Shea’s 17s team finished the season with a Silver Medal in the National Division at USAV Girls Junior National Championship.

Prior to his coaching career, DFW native moved to California to compete for California Baptist University, where he was a member of the 2010 NAIA National Championship Mens CBU team. Shea eventually completed his degree in Kinesiology from University of Texas Arlington which has helped him become a well-rounded and experienced volleyball coach and mentor.

Coach Shea helps develop great coach-player relationships with the athletes who compete at Excel, recruitment, and is a catalyst with getting our Alumni back in the gym to compete and mentor younger athletes. He is marked by a clear devotion to family, his coaching responsibilities, and helps manage operations at the Courtside facility and staff as well as runs the Varsity volleyball program at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas, TX.
