Shea has been a pivotal figure in the growth and success of EXCEL Volleyball Club for over a decade. With 13 seasons of coaching experience at EXCEL, success has followed him across every age group and competitive level. Shea has a remarkable track record of qualifying over a dozen teams for national bids across all divisions.

Elite Coaching Success

Most recently in 2025, Shea led EXCEL 18 National Red to an incredible four Open qualifications, repeating the elite-level success his 18s team achieved the previous year. His ability to consistently compete at the Open level highlights his technical expertise and strategic leadership.

Athletic Background & Education

A DFW native, Shea moved to California to compete for California Baptist University, where he was a member of the 2010 NAIA National Championship team. He later returned to Texas to complete his degree in Kinesiology from the University of Texas at Arlington. This academic background in human movement and performance has been foundational in his development as a well-rounded coach and mentor.

Leadership & Operations

Beyond the sidelines, Shea is a cornerstone of EXCEL’s daily operations. He manages EXCEL programs, assists with staffing, and is a catalyst for bringing EXCEL Alumni back into the gym to mentor the next generation of athletes.

In addition to his work at EXCEL, Shea runs the Varsity volleyball program at Bishop Lynch High School in Dallas. He is defined by a clear devotion to his family and his coaching responsibilities, consistently fostering strong coach-player relationships built on mutual respect.
