Will Wiggins joins the Excel 17 Red staff as an assistant coach with a record built on winning at the Open levels. In his first season as an Excel head coach, his 17 White (2nd) team posted a winning season, defeated Excel’s top 17s team at MLK, beat Skyline Royal in straight sets at the Las Vegas Showcase, finished in the North Texas Top 10, and qualified for Tour of Texas.

Wiggins later led Excel 16 National Red through three consecutive nationally qualified seasons. In 2016, the team qualified for the 16 Open Division at USAV Girls Junior National Championships through Northern Lights. In 2017, Excel returned to GJNC after winning the North Texas Regional Championship. In 2018, Wiggins led 16 National Red to the 16 Open national podium, earning a bronze medal and tied-for-third finish at USAV GJNC in Detroit.

Since then he has served Excel Volleyball in both Advisory Council and Director of Coaching roles while substituting and leading teams to qualify for National tournaments.

PrepVolleyball recognized Coach Will as the runner-up for its 2018 National Club Coach of the Year award, citing his preparation and leadership throughout the season.

A USAV CAP II coach, Wiggins specializes in opponent scouting, rotation and matchup planning, offensive systems, setter and right-side development, blocking and defensive schemes, and decisive in-match adjustments.

He played setter and served as captain for the University of Wyoming men’s volleyball team, including multiple appearances at NIRSA Nationals.
